- Huaxi District is located at 106°27′-106°52′ east longitude and 26°11′-26°34′ north latitude. It is affiliated to Guiyang City, Guizhou Province, located in the hinterland of Qianzhong. It is adjacent to Longli County, Qiannan Prefecture in the east, Gui'an New District in the west, Huishui County and Changshun County in Qiannan Prefecture in the south, and Nanming District and Guanshan Lake District in the north. The entire region's landform is mainly mountains and hills. It is located in the eastern slope of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau and the middle section of the Miaoling Mountains. It is a typical karst geological area. It is a watershed area between the Yangtze River and the Pearl River water system. There are 17 rivers in the area, and the water volume is mainly replenished by natural supplies. The land area of the whole region is 964.32 square kilometers. The average temperature throughout the year is 15.7℃, the average temperature in winter is 8.3℃, and the average temperature in summer is 23.7℃.
The long history has nurtured a brilliant national culture and formed a strong national custom. Young men and women of Miao and Buyi people find their favorites through singing and dancing activities. There is a traditional Miao "drilling hole" on the high slope of Shanping on the fourth day of the first lunar month, and a Lusheng Song and Ding Village in Jiading Village on the sixth day of the first lunar month. The Miao people's flower jumping scenes include Shilong Village, Mengguan Township on the sixth day of the first lunar month, Jiupan Village, Yanlou Town on the seventh day of the first lunar month to the tenth day of the first lunar month, Tongmuling on Huaxi on the nineth day of the first lunar month, Litan Kiln in Jiu'an Township on the thirteenth day of the first lunar month, Gonggu Village on the thirteenth day of the first lunar month, and Miao people's gatherings on Guiyang Fountain on the thirteenth day of the first lunar month. The folk cultural activities of the Buyi people include: the Buyi Party in Longjing Village, Qingyan on the ninth day of the first lunar month, the Buyi opera in Dazhai, Huaxi Dazhai on the fifteenth day of the first lunar month, the Buyi song party in Shuicheba in Maling Township on the twelfth day of the first lunar month, and the Buyi song party in Huaxi Park on the "June 6th". The Miao bullfighting competition in Mengguan Township, mon key drumming, Buyi Miao embroidery, bamboo weaving, clothing, headdress making crafts, suona music, etc. all have distinct ethnic characteristics.
Huaxi has rich scientific, educational and cultural resources, and the district includes Guizhou University, Provincial Party School, Guizhou University of Nationalities, Yatai Vocational and Technical College and other universities.
