[Ancient Humans] In ancient times, there were human beings living and reproducing in Zunyi. The Windcap Mountain Ancient Human Site in Donggongsi Township, Huichuan District, is a Paleolithic culture site where six mammal fossils, 62 hammered stone tools and two ceramic ornaments were collected. The Neolithic Human Site of Xintian Village, Fengle Town, Buchuan Autonomous County, about 10,000 years old, collected several specimens of corded pottery pieces, hammered stone tools and burnt bones. In the Chishui River Basin of Renhuai City, Xishui County, Chishui City, as well as Suiyang County, stone axes, stone adzes, stone net pendants, pottery shards and other Neolithic human tools have been found.

Today, Yuqing, Meitan belongs to the Pingyue Directly under the state (former Pingyue military and civilian government), Fenggang, Wuchuan is still respectively under the Shichian province and Sinan province. The first year of the Republic of China (1912), Zunyi Prefecture under the jurisdiction of Zheng'an Prefecture, Chishui Hall and Tongzi, Suiyang, Renhuai 3 counties remain unchanged, Zunyi County because of the same city with the government and the abolition. Today, Yuqing, Meitan, Fenggang, Wuchuan 4 counties under the original also unchanged.
