- Yuqing is located in the hinterland of Qianzhong, the southeastern tip of Zunyi, located in Zunyi, Tongren, Qiannan, Qiandongnan four cities and towns combined. County area of 1,622 square kilometres, with jurisdiction over 8 towns, 1 township, 1 street office, 71 villages (communities), the county's year-end resident population of 222,200 people in 2024, with a total population of 309,933 people. Commonly used arable land area of 287,400 acres, is a typical western mountainous agricultural county. The mountains and rivers are beautiful, the climate is pleasant, the Wujiang River, the largest river in Guizhou, crosses the central part of the county from west to east, the average annual temperature is 16.7 degrees Celsius, and the forest coverage rate is 61.13%.
Yuqing is the ‘hometown of Chinese small-leaf bittersweet tea’, and the small-leaf bittersweet tea protected by the national region of origin enjoys the reputation of ‘green gold’. As a demonstration county of ecological agriculture in Guizhou Province, it is an important production area for Guizhou's high-quality roasted tobacco, commercial grain and oil, pig production base and fruits, vegetables and Chinese herbs. The ‘Daliangshan’ rice has won the national gold medal many times. The Chinese herbal medicine, Cornus officinalis, has passed the national GAP certification. Stone resources, development conditions are sufficient, the total reserves of 1.327 billion cubic metres, accounting for nearly 13% of the province's share, was included in the planning of the top ten stone industrial parks in Guizhou Province. Guizhou Province, ‘west to east’ landmark project, with an installed capacity of 3 million kilowatts of Goupitan hydroelectric power plant has been put into operation, becoming an important energy base in Guizhou.
Yuqing tourism resources are unique, natural landscape and cultural landscape. There are mainly Feilongzhai National 4A Grade Tourist Attractions, provincial-level Dawu River Scenic Spot, and the battle site of the Red Army's strong crossing of the Wujiang River to Hailongdu.
