Taijiang County is located in the southeastern part of Guizhou Province, at the northern foot of Leigong Mountain, with a total area of 1,108 square kilometers. It currently administers 4 towns, 3 townships, and 2 sub-districts, comprising 71 central villages (residents' committees, communities), and 385 natural villages. The county is home to 23 ethnic groups, including the Miao, Han, and Dong, with a total population of 173,000, of which the Miao account for 98%. In 2007, it was listed by the United Nations as one of the top ten global “back to nature” cultural tourism destinations. It has been awarded honors such as “World-Famous Cultural Tourism County,” “Guizhou Province's Longevity Homeland,” “China's Green Model County,” “China's Top Ten Most Ecologically Authentic Tourism Counties,” “National Model County for Leisure Agriculture and Rural Tourism,” “China's Miao Embroidery Homeland,” and “China's Top Ten Quality Leisure Counties.”

——Beautiful ecological environment. Taijiang County is a national key ecological function zone, with a forest coverage rate of 69.34%, making it one of the 10 key forestry counties in the province. The county features unique terrain and topography, with mountains, basins, and river valleys arranged in a harmonious and complementary manner. The annual average temperature is 16.5°C, with an annual average precipitation of 1,091.8 millimeters. The region enjoys abundant rainfall, mild winters without extreme cold, and summers without extreme heat, with a frost-free period of 320 days. The air quality excellence rate reaches 99.7%.


——Abundant natural resources. The county is home to rivers such as the Qing Shui River and the Ba La River, with a total watershed area of 1,208 square kilometers, offering abundant hydropower resources; The Hongyang Ten-Thousand-Mu Grassland, located in the core area of the Leigong Mountains, is one of the wind-rich regions in southern China, and the first wind power station in Qiandongnan Prefecture has been established there; the main mineral resources in the area include barite, marble, lead, zinc, and manganese, as well as over 100 rare tree species and medicinal herbs such as nanmu, redwood, ginseng, and others.

——Diverse ethnic culture. Ethnic culture is well-preserved, with nine distinct Miao sub-groups, including the Miao Sisters' Festival, Shidong Single-Log Dragon Boat Race, and Fanpai Wooden Drum Dance, among 14 national-level intangible cultural heritage items, and 45 national-level traditional villages. The region is renowned for its exquisitely crafted Miao silver jewelry, melodious Miao folk songs, exquisite Miao embroidery, intricately designed silver attire, thrilling dragon dance performances, and passionate sheng drum dances.


——Rich red cultural heritage. The Red Sixth Army Corps and the Central Red Army successively fought in Taijiang, leaving behind numerous traces of their heroic deeds. On December 26, 1934, Comrade Mao Zedong arrived at Shidong Pianzhai with the Military Commission Column, and the Red Army's General Political Department was stationed in Pianzhai. On that day, Comrade Mao Zedong turned 41. The Red Army spread revolutionary truths and implemented the Party's ethnic policies in Taijiang, giving rise to the red saddle culture. The Central Organization Department has provided support to help Shidong Town's Pianzhai Village build a red beautiful village, which holds significant historical and educational value.

——Superior transportation and geographical location. The east-west transportation arteries of the Shanghai-Kunming High-Speed Railway, Shanghai-Kunming Expressway, National Highway 320, and the north-south trunk line National Highway 211 pass through the county. It is only a half-hour drive from the prefectural capital Kaili, a one-and-a-half-hour drive from Kaili Huangping Airport, and less than an hour's drive from Kaili High-Speed Railway Station. It belongs to the “Kaili Half-Hour Economic Circle” and the radiation range of the Qianzhong Economic Zone, with access to Chongqing to the north and Guangzhou to the south. to the east to Hunan, and to the west to Guiyang, forming a modern transportation network.
