Longli takes its name from the “dragon” of Longjia Mountain and the “village” of Xiangli. Located in central Guizhou Province, it belongs to the Qiannan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, covering a total land area of 1,521 square kilometers. The county's total area accounts for 0.86% of Guizhou Province and 5.8% of Qiannan Prefecture. Elevations range from 1,080 to 1,500 meters, with an annual average precipitation of 1,089.3 millimeters and a relative humidity of 80%. Administratively, the county is divided into 5 towns and 1 subdistrict office, overseeing 82 administrative villages. The county boasts 1.34 million mu of forest resources, including 784,100 mu of forested land, achieving a forest coverage rate of 63.41%. It is home to 36 ethnic groups, including the Han, Buyi, and Miao.

Longli is a land rich in cultural heritage and ethnic diversity. First established during the Tang Dynasty, its long history has been shaped by renowned figures including Wang Yangming, Xu Xiake, Lin Zexu, and geologist Wan Hesheng. The Red Army crossed Longli twice during the Long March, implementing Mao Zedong's strategic concept of “Four Crossings of the Chishui River” and achieving the strategic goal of “defeating the Yunnan Army to secure victory.” The Central Red Army and the Second and Sixth Red Armies fought their way through Longli, leaving behind cultural relics of the Long March such as Guanyin Mountain, Nier Pass, Qingshui River, and Boji Bridge, along with deeply moving stories. Notable cultural landmarks include the renowned Wushan Ancient Rock Art Cluster, Guanshan Ancient Architectural Complex, Yuntai Ancient Temple, Diaodong Ancient Human Activity Site, Guoli Cave Burials, and Yingtun Ancient Military Camp. Longli is known for its simple folkways and warm hospitality. Its ethnic costumes are vibrant and colorful, while its handicrafts are rustic and exquisite. The region celebrates a rich array of ethnic festivals, including the New Year's Moon Dance, Cave Dance, April Eighth Festival, June Sixth Festival, Qixi Love Song Festival, and Dragon Boat Festival's “Wandering the Hundred Illnesses” ritual.

Longli serves as the gateway to Guizhou, a hub connecting four directions and five routes. Strategically positioned at the northern flank of Guizhou, it acts as the province's entrance, shielded by mountains and rivers. Located near the provincial capital Guiyang, it functions as Guiyang's eastern gateway and Qiannan Prefecture's northern gateway, just 28 kilometers from Guiyang's city center and 20 kilometers from Longdongbao International Airport. Four transiting railways (including high-speed lines)—Xiang-Qian, Qian-Gui, Gui-Guang, and Hu-Kun—connect Hunan and Guangdong provinces. National Highway 210, Xiamen-Chengdu Expressway, and Guiyang-Xinjiang Expressway traverse east-west. The Guiyang-Longli and Longxi urban arterial roads connect central Guizhou directly to Guiyang. Combined with Guiyang-Huangguoshu Expressway, Phase II of Guiyang-Longli Expressway, Longxi Waterway, the planned Guiyang Tourism Ring Road, and Shuanglong North Line, ten expressways interconnect with Guiyang.


Longli is a realm of natural beauty and wellness retreats. Its lush vegetation and pristine ecology showcase diverse natural landscapes. With 13,300 hectares of contiguous forest cover and a 63.41% forest coverage rate, the area boasts fresh air and a pleasant climate—mild winters and cool summers—making it a natural oxygen bar, summer retreat, and wellness paradise. The region boasts stunning landscapes, picturesque mountains and rivers, and vast stretches of verdant forests. Its tourism resources are abundant, including the natural oxygen bar of Longjia Mountain National Forest Park and the uniquely magnificent high-altitude plateau grasslands. It boasts two national AAAA-level scenic areas—Shuanglong Town·Wushan Canyon and Oil Painting Grassland—along with six national AAA-level attractions: Longli Grassland, Longjia Mountain National Forest Park, Tea Fragrance Ten-Mile Prickly Pear Ravine, Wantan River Peacock Village, Longli Jiatuo Mountain, and Modu Yugou Park. Successively developed projects like Longmen Town, Longli Water Village, and Oil Painting Grassland blend cultural essence with modern elements and natural landscapes, showcasing the ecological beauty of “Healthy Longli · Wellness Journey.”

Longli is a city open to investment and inclusive development. With stable governance and thriving industries, it is a prime destination for investment. In recent years, positioning itself as “a model zone for regional economic openness and cooperation in Qiannan and a secondary hub city for Guiyang,” Longli has advanced coordinated development across primary, secondary, and tertiary industries. Guided by two major economic corridors—the Guiyang-Longli Urban Economic Belt and the Qianzhong-Longxi Inland Open Economy Pilot Zone—it boasts three provincial-level agricultural parks and 165 scaled industrial enterprises (ranking first in the prefecture and fourth in the province). It hosts the province's largest express logistics park, the largest vegetable wholesale market, and the largest fruit wholesale market.


In recent years, Longli County has comprehensively advanced the “Five-in-One” overall layout and coordinated implementation of the “Four Comprehensives” strategic framework. Upholding the dual bottom lines of development and ecological conservation, it has aligned with provincial and prefectural priorities, prioritized poverty alleviation as the overarching goal for socioeconomic development, and focused on improving livelihoods, industrial growth, and urbanization. These efforts have significantly enhanced the county's comprehensive strength, resulting in robust socioeconomic progress. The county has earned numerous honors, including China's Honeysuckle Capital, National Modern Agricultural Demonstration Zone, China Logistics Pilot Base, National Science and Technology-Based Prosperous County, China's Most Beautiful Health and Wellness Tourism County, National Sanitary County, and China's Honeysuckle Capital County. In 2015, it successfully achieved the status of a Guizhou Province Synchronized Moderately Prosperous County. In 2018, it was approved as the province's first inland open economy development pilot zone—the Qianzhong Longxi Inland Open Economy Development Pilot Zone. Its comprehensive economic development assessment consistently ranks among the province's top performers: second in the first tier of counties in 2016, first in the first tier in 2017, second in the first tier in 2018, and first in the first tier in 2019.


On September 21, 2018, it successfully passed the national third-party assessment and inspection, officially exiting the list of impoverished counties.


In 2019, it ranked fourth in the province's business environment assessment.


In 2020, it was listed as the 87th strongest county in western China, with its regional GDP surpassing the 20 billion yuan threshold.


In 2021, Longli County's GDP reached 25.069 billion yuan, marking a 12.4% year-on-year increase and an average growth rate of 9.8% over two years.


In 2022, facing intensified macroeconomic downturn pressures, sporadic COVID-19 outbreaks, and insufficient market vitality, the county steadfastly advanced the “Ten Styles” campaign to combat “Ten Malpractices,” deepened the “Ten Non-Interference” special initiative, spared no effort to stabilize market entities, resolutely contained pandemic spread, and precisely managed economic operations to offset the adverse impacts of multiple overlapping challenges. The region's GDP for the year reached 22.641 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 9.5%. Among these, the total agricultural output value increased by 4.6% year-on-year; the industrial added value of enterprises above designated size decreased by 28.8% year-on-year; fixed-asset investment increased by 0.03% year-on-year; general public budget revenue amounted to 1.497 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 7.4%; total retail sales of consumer goods decreased by 2.7% year-on-year; the outstanding balances of deposits and loans at financial institutions reached 17.227 billion yuan and 23.417 billion yuan respectively, increasing by 0.9% and 13.7% year-on-year. The per capita disposable income of permanent residents in urban and rural areas was 42,060 yuan and 16,006 yuan respectively, rising by 4.9% and 7% year-on-year.


In 2023, the entire county adhered to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as its guiding principle, thoroughly implemented the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress and General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speeches during his inspection of Guizhou. Centering on the theme of “Implementing the 20th CPC National Congress and Achieving New Leaps,” it upheld the general principle of pursuing progress while ensuring stability, efficiently balanced development and security, vigorously advanced the implementation of the “Three Major Competitions,” and made every effort to stabilize growth, employment, and prices while preventing risks. Economic and social development showed quarterly improvement, accelerated recovery, and steady progress. The annual GDP reached 22.639 billion yuan, up 2.2% year-on-year, ranking third in the prefecture. The primary, secondary, and tertiary industries grew by 4.2%, -1.2%, and 5.8%, respectively. General public budget revenue reached 1.353 billion yuan, ranking third in the prefecture. Government fund revenue reached 2.836 billion yuan, up 3.41% year-on-year. The total output value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishery increased by 4.3% year-on-year. The total industrial output value of enterprises above designated size grew by 0.1% year-on-year. The total retail sales of consumer goods rose by 5.2% year-on-year. The total output value of the construction industry increased by 10.7% year-on-year. The balance of RMB deposits and loans in financial institutions grew by 4% and 6.9% year-on-year, respectively.

Since the beginning of 2024, facing a severe and complex economic situation, under the strong leadership of the County Party Committee and with the oversight and support of the County People's Congress and the County People's Political Consultative Conference, the entire county has thoroughly studied and implemented the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress and the Second and Third Plenary Sessions of the 20th CPC Central Committee, as well as the important speeches made by General Secretary Xi Jinping during his inspection of Guizhou. We have conscientiously implemented the “Government Work Report” reviewed and approved by the Fourth Session of the 18th County People's Congress and the 2024 National Economic and Social Development Plan reviewed and approved by the same session. We have prioritized high-quality development as the overarching goal, focused on the main task of “addressing issues and accelerating efforts,” and concentrated on four key areas: stabilizing the economy, addressing weaknesses, pursuing progress, and achieving breakthroughs. These efforts have driven an overall recovery and improvement in the county's economy. For the full year, the county's GDP is projected to grow by approximately 2% year-on-year. Total agricultural output value is expected to increase by 4.1%, industrial output value of enterprises above designated size by 1.5%, total retail sales of consumer goods by 3.6%, and general public budget revenue by 3.1%. Per capita disposable income for urban and rural residents is forecast to rise by 4% and 8.5% respectively.
