Qilihe District, Lanzhou City, is situated in the south-central part of Lanzhou, on the southern bank of the Yellow River. The terrain slopes from south to north, with an average elevation of 2,321 metres. It borders Chengguan District and Yuzhong County to the east, Lintao County and Yongjing County to the south, Xigu District to the west, and faces Anning District across the river to the north. The district spans 21 kilometres from east to west and 33 kilometres from north to south, covering a total area of 397.49 square kilometres (Data from the District Public Security Bureau). Qilihe District is a multi-ethnic settlement, home to 38 ethnic groups including Han, Hui, Mongol, Tibetan, Dongxiang, and Uyghur. It administers 1 township, 5 towns, and 9 subdistricts, comprising 59 administrative villages and 82 community residents' committees. The district has a permanent resident population of 723,500 and a registered population of 481,400. Historically, Qilihe District served as a vital corridor along the ancient Silk Road, playing a significant role in facilitating economic and cultural exchanges between China and the West. The district boasts beautiful natural landscapes, including pristine ecological tourist destinations such as the Yunding Mountain Scenic Area and Dajianshan Scenic Area, alongside picturesque spots like the Xiao Xihu Park and the ancient Waterwheel Garden. Culturally rich, it encompasses the distinctively regional Shifogou National Forest Park, iconic Yellow River cultural landmarks like the Mother of the Yellow River monument and Yellow River Tower, and the profoundly ancient Silk Road relic of Moyun Ancient Pass (present-day Guanshanling).
