Gansu Provincial Bureau of Statistics

The Gansu Provincial Bureau of Statistics is a direct subordinate agency of the Provincial Government responsible for overseeing provincial statistics and national economic accounting. Its principal responsibilities are:

I. Implementing national statistical policies, guidelines, laws, and regulations; organising, leading, and coordinating provincial statistical work; formulating provincial statistical reform and development plans; organising, leading, and supervising statistical and national economic accounting work across prefectures, cities, and departments, while evaluating the comprehensive economic strength of each prefecture and city; Conducting ongoing monitoring of the provincial economy, social development, and implementation of major policies.

2. Establishing and refining the national economic accounting system and statistical indicator framework; implementing nationally unified fundamental statistical systems; formulating provincial statistical systems and standards; approving departmental statistical standards; organising and managing provincial statistical survey projects; approving regional and departmental statistical survey plans and methodologies; exercising unified oversight over private statistical survey activities.

III. In accordance with national census programmes, research and propose major provincial census plans; upon approval, coordinate implementation with relevant departments; centrally organise socio-economic surveys across all regions and departments.

IV. Aggregate and collate fundamental statistical data for the province; conduct statistical analysis, forecasting, and oversight of the national economy, scientific progress, and social development; provide statistical information and policy recommendations to the Provincial Party Committee, Provincial Government, and relevant departments.

V. Uniformly verify, manage, and publish fundamental statistical data for the entire province; regularly release statistical information on the province's national economic and social development to the public.

VI. Establish, improve, and manage the province's statistical information automation system and statistical database framework; formulate basic standards and operational rules for regional and departmental statistical database networks; coordinate and centrally manage such networks across regions and departments.

VII. Administering statistical operational funds for local government statistical departments at county level and above in accordance with regulations; assisting local authorities in managing principal officials of prefectural, regional and municipal statistical departments.

VIII. Organising and guiding professional theoretical education and vocational training for statistical personnel province-wide; jointly organising and managing provincial statistical professional qualification examinations and post appointments with competent authorities.

IX. Organising and guiding grassroots statistical development and foundational statistical work province-wide; implementing and enforcing statistical laws and regulations, inspecting and supervising their execution, and investigating statistical violations.

X. Undertake other tasks assigned by higher authorities.
